In the summer of 2013 Dyana Foldvary, the founder of SoCo Tango, grew tired of traveling to the Bay Area to dance tango. She invited local dancers to a meeting on August 3, 2013 to determine if there was interest in forming a more robust tango community in the Santa Rosa area.
There was so much enthusiasm and support that within 6 weeks, on September 19th, the first SoCo Tango practica took place.
We are steadily growing our tango community by providing lessons and a safe, friendly Practica for dancers of all levels.
Our Practica is a bridge dance where newer dancers can acquire navigation skills necessary for dancing at a Milonga, and also work on their dancing and get coached in the social kitchen area.
We have many accomplished dancers that are happy to dance with and help the newer dancers gain experience.
At our Practicas and Milonga, we enjoy the company of experienced dancers from the Bay Area, Marin county, Mendocino county, and of course our own growing local dance community. In addition to our Practicas, SoCo Tango Club hosts the Milonga de la Rosa, featuring guest DJ’s from the Bay Area and beyond. See our events link for details.
SoCoTango is a 501(c)(7) non profit organization. Our Board of directors, founder, and practica teachers volunteer their time and energy, receiving no monetary compensation.
